First of all, know that my ego is not nearly what the title of this space might suggest. But my interest in Stephen, the protomartyr, and my earnest desire to be an educator of distinction keeps me returning to this verse. It may prove easy for you to resist both the wisdom and the power with which I speak. Indeed, my speech may lack both wisdom and power. But, like my approach to my marriage and my career and even my time spent on the tennis court, it will not lack passion. And it was the passion with which Stephen spoke, the earnestness and conviction, that convinced his audience he truly believed in what he said. Of course, that got him killed. I hope things turn out better here.
